Spring is in the air out here in the West and we are very excited for the upcoming
watermelon season! The winter has been an unseasonably warm one and rainfall has
been light, contributing to more water issues in California.
We are anticipating the 2015 domestic season to be a positive one, despite water issues in
the Westside of California. Domestic fruit will be available starting in May, with a steady
supply out of the desert regions, and our growers down in Mexico still going strong. We
are anticipating a steady market throughout the season with strong demand.
We kicked off this year with our annual Western Watermelon convention in Las Vegas,
NV. We had a very successful convention this year with a great turn out of growers,
shippers and industry members.
We were thrilled that this year’s National Watermelon Convention was right in our
backyard in beautiful La Quinta, CA. We welcomed industry members from across the
nation with open arms!
With summer right around the corner, we are excited to get our delicious fruit into the
hands of watermelon lovers everywhere! Cheers to everyone having a successful and
prosperous watermelon season!
