Watermelon Greetings from Florida!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.
I can’t believe it has been a year since our 2016 Queen Katy Mae
2016. Queen Katy Mae has done an outstanding good job representing our Florida Watermelon Association as our Public Ambassador this year. Our newest promotions that we brought on board
this past year was being in Coleman’s Grocery Stores - Newfound-land,;Navy;Base;Commissioner-Key;West,;Miles;for;Moffitt;Run
– Tampa, Florida Braham Education Field Day – Branford, Weg-man’s;Grocery;Store;–;Virginia,;Stop;n;Shop’s;Grocery’s;Stores
– Rhode Island, USDA Summer Hungry Meals Feed Program
– Orlando, as well as many Elementary Schools throughout the
State of Florida. Queen Katy Mae has traveled all over promoting
Florida Watermelons as well as doing some promotions with Chef
Justin with the Dept. of Ag. “Fresh from Florida”. Queen Katy
Mae will compete for the “National” title in February in Lake
Tahoe, Nevada. We would like to wish her good luck as she competes for the National title. We are all very proud of you.
Now a little bit about our end of the year promotions. Queen Katy
Mae and I in July went down for the day to the Navy Base Commissary to hand out slices of watermelons to all the families of the
military, then at the end of July Katy Mae went to Newfoundland,
Canada for a week long promotions in the Coleman’s Grocery
and also a big thank you to Ms. Judy Bennett of Coleman’s for
inviting us and all of your hospitality during that week. Then the
month of August Queen Katy Mae and I traveled to Maryland and
Delaware for a week full promotions of Groceries stores, radio,
Rehoboth beach, visiting Laurel Block, Rotary Crab Festival.
Thanks to Caitlin Givens for all you did for that week and the
Mar-Del Watermelon Assoc. along with Bob Gibson for sponsoring us. Then the month of October we were on the road again
we joined the Dept. of Ag. with a beautiful booth for this two
day event. A fun time for everyone playing our ‘Plinko” game.

and Dept. of Ag. “Fresh from Florida for sponsoring this event.
Then we were off to Washington, D.C. for the 41st Annual Marine
Marathon Run. A weekend event with the Expo Show, Kids Run
and the Marine Marathon Run on Sunday. Thanks to NWA and
NWPB for sponsoring us to this event. November was the month
we headed to Homestead-Miami Speedway to promote our Florida
fans. Coming in 2017 we have come on board with JD Motors-ports;sponsoring;Ross;Chastain;in;the;Infinity;Series;NASCAR
Racing. Looking forward in seeing that #4 Melon Car back on the
will be posting his schedule in the coming New Year. Our last pro-motion;of;the;year;Queen;Katy;Mae;attended;the;Suwannee;Valley
Watermelon Institute for the day talking to members to join our association as well as what she does as our ambassador for FWA.
In October FWA had there fall board meeting, Congratulations
to all of our new board members that have come on board with us
this past year. President Laura Land and the Board of Directors are
working on a lot of new things coming into this 2017 year. In November FWA launched off their new FWA Website. If you haven’t
goes out to Trey Miller for designing and creating it as well as the
many long hours he work to put all this together for us. Awesome
job Trey. Also wanted to remind everyone that we have a Face-book page that we post about our promotions as well as things
